This is just a quick update on my current work in progress. I’m on page 200, with three to four more chapters to go. Then it’s just a matter of editing. Just to expound a little bit on what the story is about, anyone familiar with the isekai genre within anime and manga will immediately notice similarities. I wanted to take the notion of transporting characters to another world, mixed with video games, and come up with a take that I hadn’t seen done before. It could be argued it’s a matter of semantics, whether or not my take is new or unique. Ultimately, it’s a matter of execution.

My goal from the start was to have and provide fun within a power fantasy centered around massively multiplayer role-playing games. Players of MMOs should feel right at home with the familiar situations, terminology, and mechanics of the genre spread all throughout the story. For both our sakes, I went light on the guild drama. Ain’t nobody got time for that. I also tried to rein in the cursing with this one, as it was a popular complaint about The War Golem. I did, however, go all in on the game mechanics and evolution of character power. For me, that’s where the fun really is. Take a simple notion, turn it on its head, and then amplify in unexpected ways that create powerful characters.

In any case, if all things go according to plan, the book will release in early 2025. In the meantime, go watch Solo Leveling on Crunchyroll. You can thank me later

J.A. Giunta’s publisher, Brick Cave Media, announced today that they would have signed copies of his two latest books, The Warden’s Legacy and War Golem, available for purchase at Tucson Festival of Books March 12-13, 2022.

War Golem, released in 2019 towards the end of the year, has yet to be available at a live event. The Warden’s Legacy, released in 2021.
