I very much enjoyed this novel which includes many elements that I will always enjoy: ruminations on lost films, the impermancy of life, the nature and relevance of art, the effect that the past has on the future but only if you choose that future. A ...more

I enjoyed this short story which contained enough threads for a novel yet was also just right in this format. There is a singular eerieness running through it, of something not quite connected, which greatly appealed.

I notice the Maigret novels are getting longer as I head towards the end of the series. This one isn't quite as tight as the others, it's a meandering tale which takes us back to the start towards the end, however I enjoyed the depth of characterisat ...more
