Leann Guzman is a Christian attorney (no, that's not an oxymoron!) who has taught Biblical truths for 25 years through the local church and now through writing, speaking, and online ministry. As an attorney, wife, and mother of three, she understands the challenges facing busy women today and relies on her faith, family, community, and hot tea to see her through. Couldn't find it so I wrote it, and Daughters of Blessing was born.

I based it on a previous book, Women of Blessing, but rewrote each day to be from the perspective of a person without a ton of life experience. What's cool is each day in each of the books is on the same general spiritual topic, so a mother-figure and daughter could read their own book and then discuss each day. But the book is being used in a variety of ways, including as a small group study for teen girls. The discussion questions on each day help facilitate conversation and make it work well for this format. (less)

One Really Good Reason to Say "No"

One of my frequent battle cries is for women to stop doing more than what God has put on their plate. But it can be hard for several reasons to say no, one of which is you know you would be good at it. Maybe even the best at it.
But look at it this way: if God isn't asking you to do it, then He has someone else for the job. Maybe someone He wants to develop in that area, maybe someone who Read more of this blog post »

Douglas Adams
“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Fredrik Backman
“To love someone is like moving into a house," Sonja used to say. "At first you fall in love in everything new, you wonder every morning that this is one's own, as if they are afraid that someone will suddenly come tumbling through the door and say that there has been a serious mistake and that it simply was not meant to would live so fine. But as the years go by, the facade worn, the wood cracks here and there, and you start to love this house not so much for all the ways it is perfect in that for all the ways it is not. You become familiar with all its nooks and crannies. How to avoid that the key gets stuck in the lock if it is cold outside. Which floorboards have some give when you step on them, and exactly how to open the doors for them not to creak. That's it, all the little secrets that make it your home.”
Fredrik Backman, A Man Called Ove
