As it happens, I have an Epic Fantasy novel in the works (huge genre shift, I know) -- it's in beta stage right now, but I'm hoping to have it ready for publisher submissions by end of 2022. If you (or anyone else reading this) would be interested in a beta copy of the manuscript, please let me know!(less)

Auburn: O&U was the first book I've written with song lyrics, and it was an interesting experience. On some level, I thought I could just write poetry (which is why the first songs you'll encounter in the novel have such obvious rhyme schemes), but the more I got into it the more I started to learn about the power of rhythm and thematic repetition. I like to think I learned about song writing at about the same pace the main characters would have :)(less)

“Beating hearts and dead lies, we're all zombies in disguise. Pasting smiles over pain inside. Twisted lies that we can't hide. Our own lives cannot be denied. - Ashley”

“If you truly love a book, you should sleep with it, write in it, read aloud from it, and fill its pages with muffin crumbs.”
Anne Fadiman

“I cannot stress enough the perils of your friends marrying or becoming court inventors. One day you are all a society of outlaws, adventurous comrades and companions who will be pushing off somewhere or other when things become tiresome; you have all the world to choose from, just by looking at the map… And then, suddenly, they’re not interested any more. They want to keep warm. They’re afraid of rain. They start collecting big things that can’t fit in a rucksack. They talk only of small things. They don’t like to make sudden decisions and do something contrariwise. Formerly they hoisted sail; now they carpenter little shelves for porcelain mugs.”
Tove Jansson, Moominpappa's Memoirs
