Vincenzo Consolo (born in Sant'Agata di Militello on February 18, 1933) is an Italian writer. He has lived in Milan since 1969. He debuted in 1963, but gained wider attention in 1976 with Il sorriso dell’ignoto marinaio (The Smile of the Unknown Mariner) and has since become an awards wining author. He is convinced that ""non si possono scrivere romanzi perché ingannano il lettore", and writes novels with a poetic influence. ...more
