| I loved Rex/Dave--a mature hero who was a total badass and completely loyal to the wife he's been searching for for ten years. The scenes with his newfound son (I'm glad they didn't drag out that secret--a savvy reader could guess what would motivate ...more | |

“Life isn't easy... Sometimes, stuff happens that isn't your fault, that you can't control. It doesn't mean you've failed or that or that you won't fail again. It just means that you have to fight harder. You have to be stronger. You can't let the bad stuff win. You have to keep getting up and moving forward even when you're afraid to or you don't think you can.”

“That was bliss. Being cared for. Wanted. Feeling so necessary to someone’s existence that there was no place for the loneliness inside her.”

“She liked seeing John smile. He was usually so serious and guarded. The flash of boyish teasing warmed her heart. She’d liked the faintly possessive stamp of that kiss, too. Although she’d never imagined she would enjoy any man showing possessive tendencies around her again, there was something healthy and respectful, and completely new about the way John liked to hold her hands or take her arm, to subtly touch her—or kiss her. It was like falling in love for the first time all over again. He made her feel important. He listened. He got angry…on her behalf. John made her feel like a woman worth caring about, not a punching bag or vessel for sex or thing a man owned the way Danny had. He made her believe that with the right man—with John himself, perhaps—that it was okay for her to love again. - (Maggie)”

It was called UNSANCTIONED MEMORIES. A good family friend runs an antiques business south of Lone Jack. She owns lots of dogs, too. I had a reclusive heroine, living with her dog, so I based the heroine's home on her Log Cabin Antiques. I think my hero left his car in Lone Jack and hiked down to the heroine's place.I remember the copyeditor arguing with me (friendly arguing) that I could have a road named Lovers Lane. I have a picture of the crossroads sign near this antiques business... called Lovers Lane. Don't know if you're familiar with it.
Hope you get a chance to read UNSANCTIONED MEMORIES. And I'm so pleased to hear you're enjoying my KC books! Thank you!
