Hooray! My book, “Cries of the Children” came out today on Barnes and Noble! I thought it wasn’t coming out until Monday! Here is the link:

Copy and paste it, or you can go to B&N and just type in Clare McNally. I’m new to WordPress and don’t know how to do a link. I’ll have to ask my son to help me, but I’m off to visit my Mom tomorrow so I’ll be back next week!

Almost Published Again!
I’m so excited that my book, “Cries of the Children” will be out on Barnes and Noble’s NOOK next week! This is all so amazing to me because I wrote this book about 20 years ago. But a call from a wonderful actress, Octavia Spencer, has gotten the ball rolling again. Octavia is interested in making the book into a movie. I hope that happens, but in the meantime, it is so awesome to know I’ll be published again.
You should know Octavia as a member of the cast of “The Help.” (She was the one with the ‘chocolate’ pie, LOL!) She is as nice as she is talented!
Now, about COTC: In this story, three children mysteriously appear in the lives of three different families. Nobody knows where they came from, not even the children themselves. But they are possessed of amazing, supernatural talents that no one can explain.
Although they are in loving homes, something they are unable to resist draws the children to a mysterious complex where strange experiments are taking place. It is up to their ‘adoptive’ families to save them, if they can!
I hope the books takes off as an eBook. It’s only 2.99 a copy, which I think is a great price. I really can’t figure out why some books are as expensive as if you were holding the real copy in your hand.
I will post a link to B&N’s page with my book ASAP. And my first two books, Ghost House and Ghost House Revenge will be out soon, too! More on those, later!

Editing
Been working hard for the past few days, editing the e-copy of “Cries of the Children.” I had no idea how long the book was. In fact, after 20 years I’d just about forgotten the details, LOL! It’s fun to read it again, almost like I’m not the author. I can’t wait to see what happens to Julie, Steven and Lorraine!
There are references to things that happened in the 90s, or things we don’t have any more. Time constraints make it virtually impossible to fix those, so I’ve got a male lead with a mullet and someone seeing the Twin Towers from an airplane. It is what it is–just hope there aren’t too many snide remarks about that.
I’m 90% done with the editing, which mostly involves making sure words like ‘boy’ don’t look like ’60y.’ And the machine that does the editing (way over in India, I’m told) reads the family name “Freleng” in the book as “Erelong.” You know, as in “Give My Regards to Broadway” where you tell them “I’ll be there erelong!”
Does anyone even say “erelong” any more?
Publication with Barnes and Noble is about a month away, and I’m going to be a featured book. Well, I mean “Cries of the Children” will be a featured book.
And all this is happening because of a very nice actress, named Octavia Spencer. You’ve probably heard of her…did a little thing called “The Help.” One of her best scenes involved a certain chocolate pie…

Ghost House
Ghost House was my first published book. I wrote it in the late 1970s. I was inspired by a newspaper article in the Long Island Press about a certain house in Amityville. As it happened, I sent it out about the same time the movie “Amityville Horror” came out. It was one of those “my sister-in-law is an editor” deals. The editor (her name is Linda) picked up the manuscript and thought, “oh, this is one of those.” As in: “Damn, I have to read this because a relative asked me to.” Happily, she liked what she saw!
Ghost House went into about 15 printings, I think. Just to show how times have changed, the first edition cost about $2!
It is simply a haunted house story. A family moves into a beautiful home, and strange things soon begin to happen. There is a 200-plus-year-old ghost who sees the mother of the family, Melanie, as his long-lost love (executed for witchcraft.)
My agent back then, and through all of my books, has been Denise Marcil. Someone once called her “Crackerjack,” which is true! Now I am working with the amazing Katie Kotchman and look forward to many years as her client!
