JANUARY NEWS
Well, 2021 didn't start off the way we would have liked. The world is pretty depressing right now, so what better time to escape into a fictional world for a little R & R.
I'm offering Death Notice, the first in my Kisses and Killers Thriller series FREE from January 16 through January 20. The second in the series, Undercover, is on pre-order at the special price of 99¢. The release date for Undercover is 2/28/21. These books are standalone novels but with the same theme--the age-old battle of good guys/gals versus bad guys but seasoned with love and lust between the good guys/gals.
Starting January 30, Whiskey Kills, the second book in my Top Shelf cozy mystery series, will be on Kindle Countdown for 99¢. The price will gradually rise through February 5, so if you want it, grab it early to get the best deal. While the Top Shelf books have the same main character and many repeat supporting ones, each book can be read as a standalone.
Good reading and stay safe and healthy!

Double Shot update
Finally! Double Shot, the fourth book in the Top Shelf mystery series, is now on pre-order with a release date of 12/28/21 for the special pre-order price of only 99¢. The price will go up after the release.

The books in the series can be read as standalones, but the characters' lives progress throughout each book. So if you want to start at the beginning, The Body on the Barstool (the first book in the series) will be FREE from 11/29 through 12/3.

What am I working on now? Well, besides putting the polish on Double Shot, I'm about a fifth of the way through the first draft of Undercover, the second in the Kisses and Killers Thriller series. I'm aiming for release around Valentine's Day. That seems appropriate since kisses are a traditional part of Valentine's Day and killers once did a Valentine's Day massacre. OK, so I'm a bit twisted to even see the connection, but it IS a connection. :-)
Anyway, it's great fun to write and I'm already in love with the main characters. Bree Kelly is a local cop skilled in disguise who partners with a DEA agent named Luke Savage to go undercover in an organized crime ring that's moving in on the drug trade in Bree's city. They irritate the heck out of each other as soon as they meet, but they have to pretend to be a loving couple until the assignment is over--and that could be weeks or even months. So if they don't kill each other first, who knows what could happen? OK, you probably DO know since it's a romantic thriller, but the fun is getting there.
Until next time...

Double Shot
Some readers have asked me if there will be more books in my Top Shelf cozy mystery series, and the answer is "yes." I'm about three-fourths of the way through Double Shot, the fourth in the series, and I expect to publish it in November. It will be on pre-order before then, so keep a watch.
I absolutely love writing the Top Shelf series because I love my main character, Ricki Fontaine. When I started this series, I did it as an experiment to see if I could write something that was both funny and a good mystery. Some of the things that come out of Ricki's mouth surprise me, and I'm embarrassed to say that sometimes when I'm rereading one of the Top Shelf books, I laugh out loud at something she does or says. But then I've often said that when I write, it's as if I'm channeling the characters rather than creating them. I suspect other writers know exactly what I mean.
Anyway, those of you who have already enjoyed the Top Shelf mysteries, keep an eye out. It won't be long. And for those of you who haven't tried it yet, I hope you will. Psssttt...Name Your Poison, the third in the series, will be free for a couple of days in November. I don't have the exact days yet, but I'll post here when I do. FYI, although the books are part of a series and the characters' personal stories do evolve, the books can be read as standalones.
