After seven units of blood and a week in hospital Magz is home. She still isn’t fully fit but she seems to act as if she was back to her old self. That is until it all catches up with her at which point she tries brushing it all off. Trying to get her to take it easy is a job in its self. Mind I have been leaving her sleeping while I get the kids out to school, of course what else can you do.
Talking about kids it was my sons sixteenth birthday this week. My daughter took over making his birthday cake though Magz had been planning to make it herself. Tammy though wouldn’t let her mother do anything, which annoyed her. Everyone enjoyed the cake though even my sister, who was forced to have a piece. Sally isn’t a big eater of sweet things but did say it was good. She was only given a small sliver so we didn’t torture her too much.
It was also my niece’s birthday this week. Unfortunately with Sally just moving back to Killie recently there was no cake for her or party. She wasn’t happy about the last thing as her mother had said last year that she would get one this year. Well that was before Sally decided to make the move north of the border. But Leslie is only fourteen now and we all know that at that age things are a lot different from what we old one see it as.
As you can tell it has been a very busy week with little time for working on my book. I will need to get on with it as soon as things settle down a bit more. Of course I first have to get Magz to take things easy long enough for her to get back on her feet properly.

It was Calum’s birthday yesterday. He turned eighteen. How old does that make me feel? Unfortunately for him he had to go to work so had no really time to celebrate. Magz and Tammy made him a cake. That is one of the traditions in our house. When a birthday arrives so does a large cake covered in icing. This year some home made strawberry jam separated the two layers. I had a piece in my lunch box today and it was delicious.
Calum’s friends at a local computer store (http://www.utopiacomputers.co.uk/) gave him a disk for Windows 8 or so he thought till he opened it. It was a floppy which they said was for the down-low version. He had went down town to spend the money we gave him which he bought himself a suit with, so popped in to see his friends. Unlike me he likes wearing a jacket and tie. I’m more the leather biker jacket type. Where he takes his style from must be from his papa Calum. He used to like to get dressed up if he had anywhere to go. More likely though it is his buddies that are the good influence on him as they also like suits.
As for the poem I was working on or I was supposed to work on last weekend. Well sadly I found that I never managed to get the time. The truth is that I was busy conquering the world again. Yes I was playing Civ V again. That is much what I have planned for this weekend as well. I might get back to the poem but I think that it might be for a future date. Sometimes that is the best thing for a poem when you feel stuck with it. You may even find that it wasn’t as bad as you thought. They do say a writer can be his worst critic and when it comes to my poetry I’m guilty of that.

The roof is finally fixed. At least it seems to be as no water has been dripping onto Calum's head at night. I'll go up into the attic to check tomorrow. It seams like last week but this time I am pretty sure that it will be drier up there this week. Last Saturday I found my suspicions were correct and the leak was still present. Luckily the plastic the council put in place was funnelling the water out by way of the eaves. Then on Monday Magz let them in to have a look before they headed onto the roof to fix the problem. They said it was the flashing around the chimney as they thought. I'm just glad that the house is now drying out. That smell of damp has started to fade thankfully.
On a lighter note it is my son's birthday today. He's nineteen now. It makes me old just thinking of it. It only seems like yesterday he was my little babe in arms. Now he has a job and took his first driving lesson yesterday. Where has the years gone, eh? They have just slid by so fast. Nothing like special occasions to make you think of the years passing. Well enough of that I have a weekend ahead of me and I believe there is some birthday cake to be eaten, hehehe.
