I was asked to do overtime tomorrow but turned it down as I had already agreed to go into work next Friday. I’ll still be off on the Monday following so I still plan to wipe my drive to get my system back to some sort of normality. Of course that will take a few weeks as I find all those little programmes that we all install to our systems and then forget where we got it. Usually it’s on a USB drive some where in a drawer or on a disk. Sometimes we have to go find it on the web. But these are seldom used programmes I’m talking about so you know that it could be weeks before you realise that you need it again. CPUZ is one I have in mind at the moment. I only ever need it when my system is acting up, as it has recently. I keep it on a USB drive in the bottom of my drawer where it is forever getting lost. This in turn leads to a major rummage through said drawer to find this useful little programme which shows some basic info on my system and how it is performing. Really it will only take me a day to get most of the main this back up and running. The rest of the weekend will be getting my system running as I like it.
Well that is next weekend, this I have some potatoes that need pulling up or should I say emptying from the sacks. I may even pull up my beetroot, they’re just about the right size for pickling. Magz loves pickled beetroot, as does Tammy. I’m sure whiles I’m in the garden I have a nose at my apples and the blueberries. I know the berries won’t be ready yet but the apples were looking good last weekend so need a close eye kept on them. Magz says the tomatoes are looking good but still need to ripen, though the weather is starting to show signs of autumn. I may need to pick them and leave them on the window sill to redden them up.
All of this and still I have to find some time to do the next module in the SVQ. Another busy weekend ahead then, would I have it any other way though. Well maybe sometimes, hehehe.

Still waiting on my Blueberry pie. Magz says she’ll make it this weekend. Hopefully she will have custard to go with it, yummy. Last weekend Tammy and her mum made rhubarb crumble. The rhubarb came straight from the garden. The ladies did try to make real custard. Unfortunately it didn’t go well. It isn’t the easiest thing to make from scratch. I know I tried it once and it went more like scrambled eggs. Too much heat. I have heard since that you should put the pot in simmering water to heat the mixture more gently though I have never tried it. I think I might just leave it to the girls though.
It is really the season for baking with all the fruit ripening in the garden. The cooking apples are weighing down the branches of the tree now, though it will be a couple of more weeks before I pick them. At the same time the tomatoes have given me the second of the year with more reddening up nicely.
In the root vegetable department it has been a little more disappointing though I still have the beetroot growing. The carrots suffered from the slug this year. I did get one or two that were no bigger than baby carrots. The potatoes out of one of the growing sacks seem to have been missing in action. The other did give us a nice crop though it wasn’t enough to make up for the other one. It has certainly been a mixed year for the garden. Some things have done really well yet others have been adversely affected by the amount of rain we have had. Hopefully next year won’t be as wet.

The hope of fixing the Jalapeno came to nothing as the Raspberry Pi failed to work. I was glad when Amazon arranged for it to be picked up from my home without further cost. So often when something you have ordered over the web goes wrong it cost us to send it back. Sadly as Amazon don't sell the Pi directly they couldn't just send a replacement so I am now waiting to be sure I have the refund before reordering to try again. Though at this stage I am wondering if my ASIC is jinxed. I know that is just plain silly but...
I was out in the garden replanting the seeds that have failed to come through. That includes my peas, sweet corn, and pumpkins. With some luck they will come through this time as the weather has warmed more than enough not to be an issue now. Maybe the local wildlife feasted on my seeds before and that is why nothing came of them. Or maybe just one night it was too chilly for the slowly emerging seeds. I have no idea if any of that was the reason for forcing the replant yet something that the cold would have affected ie coriander came up and is now gathering strength. Of course it is still got a bit to go before I'm sure I will get a crop to add to mayo with a little lemon juice, yum. Nothing like those summer recipes and fresh herbs from the garden make them even better.
What has excited Magz is that the strawberries are now beginning to flower. She does love her strawberries. She is also looking eagerly at the gooseberries which are swelling slowly. Yes the fruit side of things is looking good. Lets hope it continues and we also get some cherries for the first time.
