Well I was right, I got three weeks work and now I’m back to signing on. More work could come in at anytime as the Christmas orders arrive. In the meantime I’ll have more time to work on Banshee 2. I got a start on the first chapter, which is a start and I have the plot worked out. At the same time I have begun to format Bublos. More work to do to it before it is ready for when I can go forth with publishing. I’ve still to find a publisher though Lulu has shown signs of improving its customer support. I am waiting to hear back from them though concerning some issues. They are minor ones, yet I might have to put them to the side if I wish to get Bublos into print. Mind I’ll need t wait till I have the money to go forward as the cash has been spent. I held onto the money for a while but you know how it goes when you have it burning a hole in your pocket. It happens even more when you have kids and they are in need of new clothes for school. They’re back to school next week. Oh the peace and quiet that it will bring, only joking. My kids aren’t really that noise, except when they’re arguing, which luckily isn’t too much. My son is actually looking forward to getting back to school, though my daughter hasn’t said anything. I’m guessing she’ll also be happy to get back after the six week break.
Before I get stuck back into writing I think maybe a game of Civilization 4 might be in order. Just a couple of days to relax.

2th August 2010

My old employer phone on Tuesday and I started back at work Wednesday. It is only for two or three weeks at present but they are expecting more orders, let’s hope they get them. My feet are killing me because of my tendonitis but it is so good to be working again, even if for a short time. I have even been asked to do overtime tomorrow, which I am happy to do as it will give me more money next week with my first wage slip. It will help towards Xmas though it might seem a little early to be thinking of that, but I have to start planning for it.
As you can imagine work on editing stopped on Wednesday but I’ll try and get it finish this weekend. Then I can leave it to my family to put in their comments so I can improve it further. While they do their bit I’ll do some gaming and think about the cover. To do it though I’ll need to get myself a new graphics tablet as my old one doesn’t work with my computer after last years upgrade.
Talking of upgrades, my son has done up his computer this week. After saving for months he finally was able to get the parts this week. I felt proud of him earning the money from a small job as admin on some sites that were willing to pay him for the work he does. It isn’t a lot but it teaches him about earning a living, an important thing at fifteen. To add to this he donated the old parts to his sister, who has also benefited now. It is times like this when you feel good. That somehow you aren’t the ogre you sometimes think you are when getting on their case about something minor. That those monster filled times are just you trying to teach them the right course in life.

19th November 2010

I’m enjoying my new job. It isn’t the most exciting thing in the world but my new colleagues are a cheery lot. It’s good to have a good working environment, it makes a job so much easier. Not that the work is really that taxing, very light actually. All it involves is checking the labels on the tins before sticking them in those small cardboard trays you see in supermarkets. So it is good that my fellow workers are good to get along with.
It being four hours means money is still tight and I have to put in for housing benefit. I handed a form into the work today so they can fill it in then I get it back to hand back into the housing. It’s just so they can get an idea of how much I’ll be earning so they can work out if I am entitled to any help with the rent. Hopefully I will as it would make things a little easier over Christmas. Still at least I’m off of unemployment and that has got to be a good thing. I’ll get the form back on Monday with any luck.
Magz is still not keeping to great but trying to make her take it easier isn’t that simple. She went shopping today while I was working. Fair enough she had my two kids with her. I say two though my son is now sixteen, which means he is now classed as an adult here in Scotland. It’s not easy remembering that he is as old as he is sometimes. You can’t as a parent really think of your kids as your little ones, even when they tower over you, hehehe, which my son does with me now. How did he get so big?

24th February 2012

I have to say a happy birthday to my daughter Tammy, she turned fifteen today. As with every parent I look at her and wonder where those years have gone. We all do it don’t we? One minute you’re holding them in your arms then you turn round to do some thing and when you turn back they’ve grown far too much, hehehe.
Manager Allen continues to put his foot down at work to the chagrin of some of my fellow colleagues. I just see as him trying to establish his authority which is to be expected. Slowly though those that are unhappy are getting used to him but I don’t think it will happen over night. It can’t be easy though for those that have worked there longer than myself as they are used to a more relaxed attitude towards break times than Allen is willing to give them. I must admit though that I did enjoy the more forgiving way it was before he arrived but we are there to do a job if you know what mean?
I voted in the competition at Absolute Write and now need to wait to see how I did or do. It wasn’t easy picking three as all the entries had a lot going for them and none stood above any of the others by any great deal. It took much rereading before I got it down to the just three. I will know hopefully by next week and will post my poem and report who the winners were next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
