Summer has seemingly arrived and winter can now be forgotten. The past few days have seen some great sunshine and with it the grass is growing like wildfire. Though my plants seem to be taking longer to shoot up, still they are doing not too badly. My potatoes have finally started to break through, which brought my wife a smile knowing that in the autumn that she’ll have some home grown taties for the pot.
I’m making great progress now with Banshee 2. I can see the end within the next week, at least of the first draft. Both Susie and Munroe are now ready to be taken to the cottage for the final show down. I’ve decided to stick to the original ending that I had envisioned for the story. I have also thought of a great epilogue that will leave the possibility of a third story. Though I will talk it over with the wife once I have finished the tale and see what she thinks.
I’ve also been writing a lot of poetry this past week. I’ve been doing it as part of a game for one of the writers’ forums I’m a member of. Some of it isn’t too bad in my opinion. See what you think of this one:
Hells Muddy Fields
Stand strong,
Don’t let that knee quake;
Have a bit of backbone
You snivelling little wretch.
Stand your ground,
Don’t let them through.
Open fire:
Let them have it.
Ignore the smell,
Ignore the mud;
The rats;
That your friend is dead.
Fix that trench,
Clean your feet,
So they don’t rot,
We need every man we’ve got.
Have a smoke,
One light,
Two.
Don’t let the sniper see.
Now get ready boy.
This is it.
We’ll win the day.
Let’s go over the top.
Keep on moving,
Don’t stop.
Don’t get caught up,
On that barbed wire.
Run like your life depended.
Kill the other man,
Or he’ll kill you.
So stick him good.
See the mist.
Grab a mask.
Hope it helps,
Or find you’re blind.
Watch the newbie,
As he tries to make friends.
Ignore him,
For soon he’ll be dead.
Duck in a hole,
As steel rain falls,
Tearing at the ground;
Catching the unwary.
And so it goes on,
No end in sight.
Hells never ending
Fight.

3rd June 2011
Isn’t it great to see the sun after weeks of bad weather? The sun came out yesterday as I made my way home from work and was shining bright as I head for work this morning. Though it was a very hot sweaty day inside it was wonderful to come out of the factory with the sun beating down and there was just the slightest breeze to make it perfect. Unfortunately it isn’t to last but I still enjoyed making my way home then checking my garden under the golden orb. I’m sure my plants are enjoying it as well.
I order my new graphics card last night after checking my budget. It helped when I check and saw that the price of the 6670HD had fallen in price which is the best that I could afford. Still that should help lift the frame rate of my new game The Witcher 2. Though I am able to run it at the lowest setting it would be good to see some of the bling the games makers have crafted into their title. As for how well I’m getting on in it that would be not bad. I did have to get help with on part from my son. Killing the Kayran just seemed beyond me yet Calum had it dealt with in half an hour. Is that me just showing my age? Probably. Of course I will be playing it more this weekend though I also need to work on another poem that came to me at work. Adding to that I need to try and get my lawnmower going again. My sister had her boyfriend have a look and they thought it was fixed. My son used it today for it to cut out on him so it needs more work. I’ll change the spark plug to start with and go from there so it could be a voyage of discovery.
