New Novel

As a procrastinator, I'm almost surprised to announce that my new novel will launch this month. Here's a little about it and a nice little preorder offer:
Grace Sullivan flees Dublin with her two teenage children, Jack and Holly, returning to the sleepy West Cork village where she grew up. No one in Killrowan knows what Grace is running from – or that she’s running. She'd like to keep it that way.
Taking over from her father, Des, as the village doctor offers a very real chance for Grace to begin again. But will she and the family adapt to life in a small rural community? Will the villagers accept an outsider as their GP? Will Grace live up to the doctor that her father was? And will she find the inner strength to face the past when it comes calling?
Season of Second Chances is a heartwarming story of friendship, love and finding the inner strength to face a future that may bring back the past.
Perfect for fans of Call The Midwives, The Durrells, Doc Martin and All Creatures Great and Small. The villagers of Killrowan will steal into your heart and make you want to stay with them forever.
For those who would like to preorder the ebook so that it arrives on launch day, Easter Sunday, I'm offering a special preorder price of 99c. The normal price will be $4.99 and, like all of my novels, it will be available on Kindle Unlimited. You can check it out here: viewbook.at/SeasonOfSecondChances
I hope you're keeping safe and well and steeped in books.

First Aimee Alexander Appearance
Well, I’m making my first public appearance as Aimee Alexander, though, mind you, on the programme I’m Denise Deegan. Just to confuse you. I’m speaking about my self-publishing adventure at the Focal Wexford Literary Festival, this Saturday, 27th June. Which, by the way, is in Enniscorthy town, not Wexford itself. Just to confuse you further. If you make it past those hurdles I would be delighted to see you.

Goodbye Dear Friend
Istrabraq by Nicola Russell
I hope they never take down the painting of racehorse, Istabraq, at Dublin airport. Every time I see it I think of the person who created it, the very talented, very wonderful Nicola Russell, who died this week. The world has lost an incredible artist and a very special person. I have lost a friend.
I met Nicola at an artists’ retreat. We became immediate friends. We made each other laugh. We connected. Nicola inspiredme to set out on the road to self-publishing.

Killing Darlings

I’m conscious that I haven’t been making much noisehere on myblog as I work away at editing my next novel.
So I thought that I’dpop by to put up a ‘work in progress’ sign.I am busy killing my ‘darlings.’
The thing is, I’m developing a blood lust. The more I kill the more I want to kill. Which lengthens the editing process.
So, when will this little baby be delivered? I’m aiming for the end of May. Now back...

What One Review Can Do

I have two names for last Saturday: Black Saturday &The Day The Music Died.
That day, I had a choice – to attenda self-publishing seminar(which promised all manner of tools to boostmy sales) or go, as planned, to a day of ‘play’ through art. I debated. Who doesn’t want to boosttheir sales? On the other hand, I had promised to support a friend who was running anart workshop; I did not want to let her down. In the end, I chose friendship and fun. That’s the resulting masterpiece,...
