I've been fortunate to grow up in the vivid culture of the deep south, which created opportunities for me to observe a world of relationships and ideas that can shift along one end of a highway to another while still being linked by the very asphalt dividing them. In an environment which struggles to determine which customs to bring into the future and which to leave behind, a growing mind is taught to decide the value of history for one's self, which is a lesson I believe to have strongly impacted my tenet on writing.
