Although I write about Massachusetts and North Carolina, my adult life finds me in Tucson, Arizona. I've been here a long time and love it. But the summers - whoo! It's what winter is for northerners. You stay inside as much as possible and scurry from one air conditioned place to another.

Well, fall came crashing in with a rainstorm and it is divine. I'm currently promoting my backlist, meaning books I have already written in the series. For a fun read (which was a fun challenge to write) there is MURDER AT THE HALLOWEEN PARTY.

* I know, I know it's only just after Labor Day. Enough with the Halloween stuff!
* But, it the stores have been advertising their Halloween decor since August, I may as well jump in.
* I had so much fun writing MURDER AT THE HALLOWEEN PARTY. And it was an incredible challenge, too.
* I thought it would be fun to take a bunch of couples and invite them to a costume party - masks mandatory - and put them in a big, old house mostly empty waiting to be sold and let them loose.
* Then they have a game of sardines and well, you can guess what happens. I had to make a map for myself of the rooms, keep a list who wore what costume and who was where when. Phew. A challenge, but fun.

I like to read Nordic Noir in the summer to remind myself that it's not hot everywhere. I should correct that statement. I was in Boston and Western Massachusetts last week and it was hot, humid and smoky from the fires in the midwest and Canada.

If you want to chill out, pick up MURDER ON JAMAICA POND, a Massachusetts Cozy Mystery where Amanda discovers a body partially in the ice while at a skating party.

I grew up in the New York area and my experience with skating was not as exciting. It was always outdoor rinks at that time, so not smoothed out by Zamboni machines. In fact, it was quite bumpy from repeated partial thaws and re-freezes. As a result, the notion of zooming along the ice and doing jumps and axels has always fascinated me.

I'll be going to Boston next month for my annual visit with long time friends andI'll be sure to check out the swan boats.
I didn't know the swan boats had been there so long! That's a fun aspect of writing historical cozy mysteries - doing the research and finding old photos.
