I am wondering why Good Reads will only allow the name and the not the book/article when referencing a quote. To me that seems less than full attribution and makes it much harder to check whether a quote is genuine or has been cited accurately or not. For instance, I want to know that C S Lewis said "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." in his book from the essay "Is Theology Poetry?" in his book Weight of Glory.
I want less free floating quotes clogging up the internet and facebook and more careful attribution. Is that just the academic in me? What do you think?
