3 Tips on How to Find the Best Violin for Sale

1. Find a Hand Crafted Violin for Sale
One of the biggest things that makes a violin sound a certain way is how the violin is crafted.

Violins that are manufactured or factory-made, are not going to have as good of a sound, as a violin that has been handcrafted.

The reason for this is a violin that is handcrafted is shaped in a certain way that optimizes the tone of the instrument.

It is a drastic difference...

The way you can tell if a violin for sale is handcrafted is by feeling the quality of the wood.

If the wood feels dry and defined, this is an excellent way to tell if a violin is hand-crafted or factory made.

You can almost guarantee that a violin for sale under $500 is going to be factory made.

That is why I recommend for students to find a violin for sale that is between $500-$1,000.

The key is finding an excellent hand-crafted instrument, as violins even in this price range can be factory made.

2. Understand Richness and Projection
If you are interested in finding a good violin for sale, it's essential to understand sound richness and depth.

This can be explained as the deep resonance that comes out of your violin which produces a more pleasant tone to listen to.

When you listen to music on the radio, it sounds much better to listen to music when there is sound "bass."

If you were to turn off the bass when listening to music, this would make the music sound thin and unattractive.

This is the same concept with finding a violin for sale. A violin with good richness is the same as music with good bass.

When you are listening to music under your ear, it is so much more exciting and rewarding to produce a rich tone.

This is one of the qualities that every violinist covets.

The other quality of a violin is how much the violin for sale projects.

This is pretty self-explanatory. It's the ability for the violin to produce a loud/pure sound.

A violin with a right balance of richness and projection will be most ideal to a violin or fiddle player.

Take a look at this video of one of my violins - the Topa.

This instrument has a maximum balance of both sound richness and projection that is ideal on a violin.

3. Test out a Quality Violin for Sale
One of the biggest things every violinist must do is test out a violin before they decide to buy a violin for sale.

I recommend working with any reputable violin shop that has a trial program.

This will allow you to take the violin to your teacher and have them test out its quality.

A violin teacher has experience trying out violins for sale in all different price ranges.

They should have the ability to feel out if a violin is worth the value, compared to a beginner player who doesn't have as much experience.

I recommend not just finding one violin for sale, but multiple to try out for some time.

Many times this will help you identify what type of sounds you are looking for, and allow you to feel confident in a purchase.

Finding a quality violin for sale is one of the most rewarding and fun experience any violinist can experience.

Once you find the violin that suits you best, you'll feel more confident practicing, and gaining skill.

By having just a mediocre instrument, you will feel less motivated to gain experience, and not sound your best.
