As you probably have guessed by now I'm not really a blogger. I love to write though like the weekly column in the local newspaper which I have been doing since 1997. But a real kick do I get from creating a book and that includes the writing part, research, plus self-publishing which includes creating the cover. Today I was waiting outside for the UPS truck to arrive with the print version of my latest crime novel.

Well, as you probably got from the title, this is the first time ever I have written a blog. My name is Eric van den Hoogen, originally from Holland. I now live in Florida together with my wife of 41 years. After 15 years of writing a weekly column for our local newspaper, I thought I would try my hand on writing a novel. That was in 2013. In the meantime I'm working on my fourth novel. Never gave the promoting part of writing much thought. But lately we have been doing book signings, visiting book clubs and yes, joined 'Goodreads'!
