Maybe the legend about St. Valentine is true; he is supposed to have written his lover a beautiful card while he was in prison. It became a custom because in some ways we stay in our own prison when we are alone.
Writing is a way to connect with the outside world that lives within us. I wrote my first two novels set in the tropics because I wanted to live there - among the vines, flowers, singing birds, the jungle, on a tea or coffee plantation. I am a secret gardener. My apartment window has a long sweet potato vine that reaches toward to ceiling.
Looking at the pretty book and kindle covers of Tea for Three and Coffee and Chocolate make me smile to think that I lived there in the tropics while writing them.
Happy reading and lots of love, L
