Journalism: Truth and Objectivity

Journalists are taught to seek the truth but what if instead they were taught to seek to understanding? The truth means different things to different people. We think of truth as fact but it’s an interpretation of facts within our own world view.   If we understand this, then the truth loses its meaning just as being objective does. We cannot know the truth just as we cannot be objective. Journalists, like everybody else, are fallible humans. Now we can moan about the biases of the media or we
