Music and Ly-uh-Writing!
So I had a lovely comment on my Facebook today about not only discovering my books, but discovering the music I set my books to. It's not the first time I've heard this, but let me tell you there isn't a higher compliment I could be paid.
Me...for the last half hour.

I LOVE music. If you couldn't tell ;)
It's a fundamental part of my writing. I have a playlist for each novel before I ever sit down to write and I cultivate that playlist throughout the entire process until publication day. I will often hear a song or an instrumental and a character or a sentence will pop into my head. I'll listen to that song over and over, sitting with the feelings it invokes. Soon I'll have a general idea of what the story is about and I'll build the playlist. I spend HOURS doing this. Listening to songs over and over, watching music videos. It's a lot of fun because I've discovered so much music.
For instance, I was watching another author's book promo video and Rihanna's song "What Now" was playing and BOOM...Marisol's voice popped in my head.
Or...
I was devouring Beyonce's self-titled album like the rest of the world and heard the song "Heaven" and immediately the scene where Emily is lying in bed imagining the light from the sun is her mother's hand comes into my head.
These moments, sparked by music, are everything to me.
So thank you, lovely reader. I'm ecstatic that you discovered new music, I'm overjoyed that you liked my books and I'm so proud that you felt the emotion in the songs with the words that I wrote. Because I did too and I feel like it only connects the characters, author and reader more.
GAH! Ok, enough rambling. Too many feels.
What I have done...long overdue...is added a Music tab under my "Book" header on my website. Now you can see all the playlists in one place, easy access. I wish I was more tech savvy to get a Spotify playlist going or whatever. If anyone does that, let me know and I'll link it all over the damn place.
