Maturity
As I mentioned in the book, people stop maturing at the age a substance/abuse is introduced into their lives. The prison is full of twelve and thirteen year old mentality. Now picture this kind of thinking in grown men bodies. Fights can be difficult to avoid.
Laughter is a part of daily life. I've always been a class-clown type of person and prison was the greatest classroom I've ever been a part of.
Testosterone therapy not only helped mature me physically; added muscle mass and I shave more often, but it also helped mature me psychologically. I'm still a class-clown, but I have better impulse control with it. I also found a certain amount of hate and anger. It's not a "'roid rage." It's an always present kind of negativity. I might have developed it without T therapy, but we'll never know.
I was placed on T therapy in 2002 by the prison doctors. I remain on it today and for the rest of my life.
I'm involved in many creative projects, but I'm generally a pessimist. I hate to admit this. In prison, among other pessimists, I stayed positive and away from the negativity. But out here in society, I'm alone and I gravitate toward negativity.
