My Monday hero is Jin Sook Chang the co-founder of Forever 21 who at the age of 26 emigrated with her husband, Do Won Chang, from South Korea to Los Angeles.
Three years later, in 1984 the Changes opened a clothing store then named Fashion 21 in Highland Park, Los Angeles. In the first year they raked in $700,000 in sales, and in the following year they began opening new stores every six months and changed the business name to Forever 21. By 2010, the number of stores grew to 457.
The company has since remained a family business: Don Chang serving as CEO and Jin Sook as chief merchandising officer. Their two daughters also work for the company. The elder daughter is managing the marketing, and the younger runs the brand's visual elements.
Today, Forever 21 annual sales estimated at $4.4 billion from over 600 stores, and according to Forbes, the Changs net worth is estimated at $6.1 billion.

Many times we think that the impediments to success are related to the place we grew up in, our access to education or the connections we formed over the years. Yet the Changs prove that neither of these is critical for success. Evidently, determination and believing that success is achievable could work just as well.
