The Importance of Family, Community and Sisters of the Heart

Lissa, the heroine of Fire Bound, is special to me. She is as secretive and quiet as she is loyal and fierce. She exemplifies the element she is bound to; fire. You see fire, know it’s warmth and importance, but it’s easy to take it for granted and that’s when you get burned. Lissa has kept a secret from the women she calls her sisters because that secret is dangerous. She’s already lost her parents, she would do anything to keep her sisters of the heart protected, even from herself and her secret double-life.

Lissa's double life

Casimir is a man of secrets as well. Also orphaned, he has only his brothers as family. So when they ask him to watch over Lissa when she leaves for Italy he agrees. But, he is also bound to fire, his magic gifts as dangerous as Lissa’s. So when the two realize they need to work together things heat up, as you can imagine.

I love how the two are a perfect a compliment for each other. They both know the need for secrecy, double-lives, alias, disguises. They know how to kill and how to survive. Threaten what they love…who they love, and their magic becomes combustible.
Fire Bound
They are two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together.

Janice I find I'm enjoying the Sea Haven series for the people...not the magic, same as I loved Star Wars for the characters, rather than The Force--my favorite character in Star Wars is Han Solo. I haven't yet chosen a favorite character in the Sea Haven series, as I just started them.

To me, it's always the characters that make the story.

Beth I have to say this is my favourite series of yours (although all your books are fantastic) and I loved this one and I thought the way you unfolded Lissa's story was fantastic... I can't wait for Blythe and Viktor' story.

Janice I just bought Fire Bound yesterday, though I'm still reading Oceans of Fire. I'm taking my time on the Sea Haven series as I'm trying to find Twilight Before Christmas. I can hardly wait to read Bound Together, and Shadow Rider when they come out.

Sondra West I've been following Sisters of the Heart since the Sea Haven novels. I absolutely love all of them! With Fire Bound, It grabs you from the very start & never lets you go! I was very surprised at what was revealed about Blythe! Can't wait to read more from Christine!

Jenni Ebba I finished it in two days and that's only because I had to go to work. LOL. I loved meeting you-know-who's Special One, ;)

Janice Just bought 2 tradeback copies of Twilight Before Christmas, at my Barnes and Noble. I don't know if I'll wait until Christmas to read it...or Christmas in July.

message 13: by Janice (new)

Janice I've just decided to read Twilight Before Christmas in July, as I'm too busy watch the Thanksgiving and Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel during the holidays.

Christmas in July is a wonderful idea! LOL

Janice I do have Twilight Before Christmas, and Dark Celebration, on my ...Christmas in July... book list that I plan to use for my library book display this year. I wanted to use fun "non-traditional" novels set during Christmastime that Patrons might not think about reading during the Christmas season.

Janice I like the character of Judith, as somehow with her spirit element, and skills in interweaving her magic within her art, she reminds me of Francesca, one of my favorite of the female Carpathians.

Janice Just started on Air Bound, yesterday, as I guess I'm addicted to the fictional town of Sea Haven, and its people, now.
