I'd like to address issues raised in some of the reviews. Goodreads advises against engaging directly with people who've given negative reviews.
On page 57 there was an incident involving my failure to cooperate with the police during an investigation involving someone who was hurt badly. I'm sorry it happened, but cooperating with the police wouldn't have made the victim's suffering any less. It would have affected my life substantially though. Having already been to prison once before, I had seen first hand the kind of treatment one received with the label "snitch." I type before you today as rehabilitated and I don't regret for one minute the self-preservation I exercised by keeping my mouth shut -even if it meant doing more time.
Prison is ruled and enforced by very primitive and at times barbarian ways.
On page 64 I go on to discuss being stuck in a cell all day because the prison is short on officers. I can definitely see the point of view that I broke the law and that is what I deserve. I just felt differently about it at the time because it was a freedom I was accustomed to and then it was taken away. I might have felt differently if it was always that way and I had nothing to compare it to.
Believe it or not, I am a proponent of prisons. I believe I never would have quit my vices had it not been for prison. I quit smoking pot my first time, cigarettes the second and all the rest this last time.
Here's a link to a letter I wrote to one of the local papers on a story they did on drug free zones:

I like all the feedback I'm getting. I like the bad feedback because it's done in a mature way. People aren't trying to criticize me as a person just because the book didn't do it for them.
