Excerpt:
Even though the door stood wide open, Connor knew that he wasn’t supposed see this. Not the nudity--Sam wouldn’t care about that--but the vulnerability. He felt a flash of anger that Sam would break down in front of a camera and not in front of him. Sam straightened as quickly as he had bent. For a moment, Connor thought Sam’s eyes caught his, reflected in the mirror, but Sam turned away and stepped into the shower. Sam pulled the curtain shut, providing the closing punctuation. Connor wanted to go in, to pull him down, his hand on the back of Sam’s neck, and kiss him, to show Sam that whatever he had bottled up, he could let it go. Three steps down the hall, Connor realized he could. Before he knew it, he was standing in front of the bathtub getting hit by the spray of water as it ricocheted off Sam’s body. Sam looked at him. His eyes were red; he was using the shower to camouflage his tears.
“There’s another bathroom down the--”
The raised tub made Sam taller than normal. Connor went on tiptoe to get hold of him and brought him down by the hair because his neck was too slick to hold. “It’s okay. We can do this now,” Connor said, before his lips closed off Sam’s stupidity.
