The Battle Ground Reflector published an article about Dragonfly Dreams, which ends with the true story of how Battle Ground, Washington, got it's name. One might think it was named for a battle ground, but that's not exactly the case. It's a great story of how CPT Strong, US Army, and Chief Umtuch of the Umatillas met on what might have been a battle ground, but no one was killed or injured.

I ended Dragonfly Dreams with Battle Ground's story because it's a story that I felt deserved to be told. So much of history and today's news is about unnecessary violence, collateral damage, and innocent bystander fatalities, that it was refreshing to find a true and truly civilized ending for my book from another era filled with violence. I feel it should be a must read lesson learned for all military officers (just my opinion).
