By group I mean do you physically gather in a clan at some location and talk about books. I don't. My wife does. She tells me each member picks a slate of prospective books for the next meeting.
They discuss the choices and then take a vote. After disbanding, they all read the agreed upon books for next time. They've done it that way for years. It's a cool way to get recommendations and to test drive new authors.
Most of my interaction with readers is via the Net. Goodreads is a forum I rely on a lot. One of my favorite aspects is their reviews. I write a few words about the books I've enjoyed reading and get back comments. If I have anything to add, I respond back. Maybe I don't respond often enough, but I'm reserved by nature even when I'm online.
However, the downside to running a library book club is that we depend on that libary to supply the books and with the budget running backwards there are less and less new releases in multiple copies.
