I traveled to Congregation Agudas Achim, in Austin, Texas on May 9 to see an exhibition commenmorating the anniversary of the Sephardim Jewish community’s arrival in the Ottoman empire. (The Jews had been persecuted by the Spanish monarchy and found refuge with the Ottomans.) Notice the middle panel of this door reproduces the “Vulcan salute” within Congregation
