Last week, I announced a new tradition: celebrating Friday, the best day of the week, with quotes by fellow authors and friends.

I invite you to send me your favorite quotes (yours, mom’s, grandpa’s, your children’s or someone else) in a FB message and I will post on Fridays with a credit.

This week I give credit to my mother-in-law who speaks Yiddish and has some of the best expressions; Yiddish is not only a language but also a culture. Many of the Yiddish idioms have darkly-comic nature, and when used in the right context can be hilarious.

In Yiddish “Gey strashe di gens” translates to: “Go threaten the geese.” It hints that if you’re unable to threaten the speaker maybe you’ll be more successful with the geese.

I love that phrase, and I think we all should practice it, because it may be especially useful after the Parties’ Presidential Nomination.
