Cartoons Made for Adults

Popeye was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. But I think a lot of the humor went over my head. Was the series originally intended for adults to view? Maybe he was shown at the cinema. Remember when cartoons were part of the ticket price? I do.

The Simpsons never made me a big fan. I'll watch them and get a few chuckles. King of the Hill is funnier. Either that or I can relate more the Hank the Propane Salesman and his daily travails.

The juvenile Beavis and Butthead wore thin real fast. I've never seen enough episodes of South Park to form a like or dislike. Offhand though, I'd say it doesn't seem to light up my fun meter.

Felix the Cat was a kick. All of us need to lug around his bag of tricks. Yogi the Bear and Touché Turtle were mainstays of my youth. In fact, I liked all of the cartoon creations (Quick Draw McGraw, Huckleberry Hounddog, Snagglepuss) produced by the Hanna-Barbera Studio.

Enough already with the nostalgia. But I'm always up for a good cartoon, be it on the big or small screen.
