Muses

A muse can be almost any noun - a person, place or thing.  Mine is usually music, and almost any kind.

Do you know why movies have soundtracks? Because life has a soundtrack. Maybe it's not beautifully orchestrated, and it may not always seem to fit the scene, but it's there regardless.

My personal soundtrack would be the weirdest, most disjointed, most seemingly unrelated confusion of music you've ever heard. If you routinely listen to Mozart, followed by Guns n Roses, followed by Nickelback, followed by Lady GaGa, followed by an odd song called "Da Linnip" (look it up) then you might like my soundtrack. You're more likely to just scratch your head and think "WTH?"

Either way, music is my muse. When I write I find the words flow smoothly, almost without effort, whenever I listen to soft, sad piano music. I rarely listen to that type of music when I'm not writing (unless I'm horribly depressed or particularly pensive) so the one funny side-effect is that when I am out in public and I hear soft piano music my fingers tend to twitch. No, really. They want to type. It's a Pavlov's dog kind of thing.

Anyway, I say all that so I may share this; My personal soundtrack for the writing of TEMPUS. The music doesn't really have much to do with the story line, and it's not meant to, but there are certainly pieces of music that bring to mind certain parts of the book, specific scenes that have now become connected to that music for me. I hope you enjoy it, and if your fingers twitch, don't blame me.
