Confession

I start with a confession: I'm not very good at social networking. This is probably because I'm not very good with computers, and because I often don't know what I should say. But since my fifth book (a short Xhagia novel) is due out soon, and two more are on the way, and more still are occupying my hard drive in various stages of completion, I think I should say something about them.

First, though, to those who have read them, I want to say thank you. Storytelling is about audience, and I'm flattered and grateful that the four Xhagia books out so far have been as popular as they have been, and that some have been so kind as to leave reviews.

Xhagia started with a scene, the first scene in the first book, where slaves were unloaded at the starport and Dalgaz Tav was reflecting on life in the empire. It grew from there as I wrote, expanding, becoming a place that I found increasingly fascinating, and where I realized a lot of other stuff was finding its way into the story, beyond the sex and beyond the romance, though these two things drove it. Some of it is commentary about our own world, I suppose, and some of it is not; everyone will see that differently. But it was fun to do, in large part because there's a part of me that is a hopeless romantic, and in part because writing about the erotic is both fun and healthy.

So I've kept on doing it, encouraged by everyone's support. Writing is a lonely thing but also something I can't not do. So there's more, and I expect there will be more after that, Xhagia and other places, if I can get some of these projects out of my brain and onto the screen. And I'll try to keep posting updates, if perhaps intermittently.
