I am here if anyone interested to contact me in this unfamiliar way. me.

I am a writer from English East Midlands and wider anglophone roots, of middle age and sparse cranial hair.
My current writing is mostly speculative fiction. My first book in this arena is "Another Space in Time". I am very much of the small end of the indie publishing business at present, which like every new author I would like to grow from. There are a lot of us about.
If you are interested in all genres of indie books, and haven't been there you may like to take a look at
http://www.independentauthorsnetwork.com
I have a web site at
http://sites.google.com/site/richardb...
I am trying to promote other indie authors I have read and have some regard for.

Apart from making myself unpopular on LibraryThing for self-promotion (it was a fair cop) I am, I hope, not too badly thought of.
I wish any visitor here, deliberately or by error, the very best. Have a good one.Another Space in Time, Returns Another Space in Time, Returns by Richard Bunning Another Space in Time by Richard Bunning

Richard Bunning I am going to be the first to comment, and seeing as I am recorded as a fan of myself, why not?
The key word I missed out in the blog was unpopular, I can't imagine why!
Oh! and yes, you will see my spelling is a touch variable. Luckily most copy editors have little trouble sorting this.

A.R. Davis Googling myself a few days ago I found among all the bookstore hits that you, a real person, was reading my new book, Weeds Of Eden. That led me to your page and to GoodReads. Thanks for both. I am now going to get your book and see how much alike we think.

I am new to goodreads, and keep getting totally lost. This is a complicated place. I will start reading your book today. I have it waiting on my kindle.
Good luck reading Another Space in Time- you are a rare animal. All the best, Richard

Tui Allen Hi Richard. Agreed, Goodreads is complicated compared to the MMM linked-in discussion and the Amazon discussion threads. I only just leant to create an author page and become an official Goodreads author and claim my own book.
Clive, you should like Space in Time. I loved it and got hooked right in to the story.

Richard Bunning I suffer from being a jack of all platforms, but a master of none. Just aren't enough hours, Tui.

Tui Allen I know - when are we supposed to write, with all this going on, but it is kinda enjoyable and not too arduous since nobody wants to talk to me anyway. Giggle.

Richard Bunning That is the problem, we are all morphing into various talented marketers when what we want to be is writers. I really don't know how to find a balance.
I guess that behind most of us is still the dream that someone will take us on, do the sales stuff, and leave us time to write, save wildlife, humanity, stamps. In other words find the fairy godmother to help us be whatever we really want to be.

message 8: by Tui (new)

Tui Allen Yes, life was so simple while writing the first book because there was no earlier book to be busy trying to market.

Richard Bunning Halcyon days!

A.R. Davis Richard, you beat me to it! I got an e-mail from GoodReads, came here to this discussion, clicked a link from above, and saw that Roddy has returned! Just purchased the book, can't wait to start it.

Although the book was listed on Amazon, I had to buy it from superbooks. Why doesn't Amazon list it yet?

Good luck!

message 11: by Richard (new)

Richard Bunning The book was taken down after a very short print run to make a few cosmetic changes. I am not sure that Superbooks or anyone else will get copies for another ten days, but who knows. It is a bit the same game as is played with "second-hand" books, me thinks. But don't worry Roddy Returns to a vendor near you sometime soon. It is showing in Amazon UK today, and!!!! in Amazon.com "used" and alternatively sourced book inventories. Weird!

Richard Bunning Hi Amy, you're most welcome. I may be interested in your special skill for a trailer, and I'm sure many others would be as well.

Oh good:) thanks Richard:) How's your book promo going so far?

message 15: by Richard (new)

Richard Bunning Like most indie writers I am trying to swim on top of the fast and increasingly big wave of new authors.
To be honest, I am not convinced that printed words backed by music is the best approach for book trailers. I might go for music intro and exit to give extra feel to the spoken word. Far too many trailers are just so similar.

My Mum Sister and Aunt, are all indie authors, they often talk to me about how hard it can be, it must take a lot of patience (Something i don't have LOL) like the sound of music intro and exit, sounds exciting:)

J.j. Massa I'm kind of new with some of this too.

Richard Bunning We muddle through. Give Cosmo and peanut butter sandwich, when you have your coffee.
I often think that I really must produce properly done audio versions of my books if I am ever fortunate enough to make any money from them. Luckily, technology is going at such a pace that perhaps that won't be necessary.
Have a great day, Richard.
