Jed lifted his gaze from his worn dictionary, quickly taking note of the bandages and bruises beginning to show on his friend's face and arms.

"There's this pain in my ass," he said, shutting the book in his lap.

"There's a stick rammed up it."

"You should know. You're experienced, walking around with one all the time," Jed countered.

"Fine. Shall we compare whose stick is bigger?" Alex asked. "I'd concede yours is. You're the bigger asshole, after all."
