BREAKING NEWS

Effective Monday, June 6, I will no longer be the sports editor of the Daily News. I have been promoted and accepted the position as the Daily News' managing editor.I have been the sports editor for the Daily News for almost seven years. While it was a tough decision, I believe it is a great opportunity for me professionally and personally. For the first time in my life, I will have a 9-5, Monday through Friday job. Several factors led me to this opportunity.I had increasingly grown tired of working nights and the odd ball hours the sports desk often requires. When I have a bad day at the office, I had no way to unwind getting home at 1 a.m. Now I will be at home at night with my wife and kids and will have many more weekends free. Those two factors were my biggest motivators for pursing the change. As it turned out, I was considered for the position before I expressed interest, which I'm honored. It is going to be strange for many weeks to not have sports be my primary focus. But I will continue to write as the opportunity presents itself.I'm honored, excited and nervous for this opportunity, and plan to continue and improve the paper's recent success.Thank you to all that I have worked with throughout my tenure as the Daily News sports editor. I enjoyed covering this community's local sports scene. Now, I'm ready to do the same for all of Washington County. My contact information will slightly remain the same. Email will still be ndettmann@conleynet.com. But my direct office phone number changes to 262-306-5043.In the interim, Adam Lindemer will handle the sports editor duties. He can be reached at 262-306-5047 or alindemer@conleynet.com.
Sincerely,Nicholas DettmannDaily News, managing editor
