Nothing in Common

He doesn’t have boyish charm and doesn’t have that intellectual flair about him that sends tremors through me and makes me feel giggly and sends tremors through me and—oh, I said the tremors part. He’s not my type. He’s nothing like the kind of guy I like.
Not at all.
On the first date, he didn’t seem all that interested in Silas Marner’s motivation, and on the second date he listened politely but didn’t engage when I tried to explain  Leopold Bloom’s desperation. Don’t get me started on the indulgent but blank look poetry elicited. Not my type.
Date three’s a gift. One and two made it clear there’s no future. Date three’s just kindness, a polite goodbye before I head back to my world of words and he heads back to his world of machining and football on Sundays and microbreweries.
So I can’t really say why we’re at his place. I can’t really explain why my heart is beating like it is and why I desperately need to get his damned belt unbuckled. I sure as hell shouldn’t want him the way I do.
He’s not my type.
