Ten Years Later...

When B IS FOR BULLDOZER was finally published in 2003, I was so happy to see it in print that all I could do was stare in wonder at the book in my hands. It was a seedling when my son was a toddler who was so obsessed with construction that he would yell out in his sleep "a bullzer* has no wheels." The road to publication was rocky, so rocky that the source of my inspiration was over 11 years old when the book was finally released. I never imagined that ten years later B IS FOR BULLDOZER would still have legs, selling more copies than it did in earlier years. A few days ago it was released as a board book for a new generation. The most gratifying stories I have heard are ones from parents whose children insisted on reading this book every night for months, sometimes a year. I have heard anecdotes of toddlers quoting the book when they see construction workers in real life performing the tasks described throughout the story.  It makes me so happy to see B IS FOR BULLDOZER has a life of it's own that will hopefully celebrate many more landmark anniversaries in the years to come.
*Two year old word for bulldozer
