And it really worked in this story, to my surprise. Aiden and Becca are so great for each other. There is so much going on, but not too much that I was overwhelmed. I love all the side characters as well. Especially Toni and Jeremy. I'm still kinda on the fence about Kate. I think maybe because she wasn't as front and center as Toni and Jeremy.
There are some very sensitive subjects in this book. K.D. Carrillo handled them beautifully. She didn't shy away from the horrendous nature of these subjects, but she didn't glorify them either. My heart hurt for Becca and Aiden, and yet rejoiced when they were happy.
I'm so glad I read this book, and will definitely be reading more by this author.

Book two in Carrillo's Destroy Series picks up immediately where the first one left off, including the usual suspects, but with a new focus on Kate and Reed. Kate is a nurse in the hospital who cares for Reed and whom Reed grows to love. There are a lot of twists and turns in their path to happiness. I loved how the book bounced around, bringing back the main characters from the first book and allowing you to see where they are in life, while following the stories of their friends.
This novel is full of new drama, and plenty of it. An emphasis on the raw, passionate sex scenes, that at times left me putting the book down to take an ice cold shower. It follows a similar pattern as the first, leading the reader to anticipate the villain, only to twist your reasoning and leave you speechless.
As a series goes, this is by far one of the best I have ever read. I am actually very excited to read the third book, which I am to assume follows Antionia, Miguel, and Trent. I must warn that you should read the series in it's entirety (not really standalone) as the books feed into one another. Self Destruct was just the appetizer leading to Destroy Me, an exquisite main dish. I am sure the third will end up being the perfect dessert. I love how K.D. is hitting subjects that no other author dares to hit. Be them controversial and sometimes very disturbing, she hits every raw nerve you may feel about it.

This one is the story of Toni and Trent and it has as much suspense twists and turns and romance as KD Carrillo's other two books in this series Self Destruct and Destroy Me. KD Carrillo continues to show great talent in her writing. The story picks up where the last book left off the story had smooth flow and it kept my interest fully intact. I did NOT want to stop reading!! It was a true page turner for me. Another plus about this book was the chemistry between all the characters. Aiden, Becca, Jeremy, Cameron, Katie and Reed were amazing as usual. I loved seeing how they all loved and protected each other.
