Panorama Kickstarter
As the child of Nigerian immigrants growing up in 1970s Britain, my view of the world was shaped by my environment, my education and society at the time. I rewrote Cinderella and some of the stories in the Enid Blyton series and made all the leading characters Black. I needed to see the world through their eyes.
Years later – I continued my journey of self discovery through the pages of Things Fall Apart, Cry The Beloved Country, Huckleberry Finn and A Tale of Two Cities.
…I learnt about the major cities of the world while sitting in the school library.
These days, sometimes the London air carries the scent of seasoned jerk chicken and roti’s to my nostrils and I smile.
Sometimes it is a taste, a smell, a glance or a memory but it is enough to take you thousands of miles away.
This is one of the things Panorama aims to do. Not replicate some culinary delight but to make you see travel through new eyes, new experiences, relationships and stories. It is a journey with you, through you and around you.
As one of the contributing writers I am excited about sharing some of those stories with you.
We have just launched our Kickstarter campaign. We’ll be using the donations from this campaign to pay writers, illustrators, and photographers.
