In the first chapter of Selah’s Sweet Dream is a scene with Grandpa’s dog, Skunk. She finds a nest of bunnies and tries to bring them to the house, dropping them along the way. Because this scene seems to have charmed readers, I wanted to share that it was based on a true story.  We had an Australian Shepherd who found a nest and gently carried them home to us. She took us to the nest, and much to the dog’s anguish, we put the babies back and brought the dog in the house until the mother bunny could move her litter. The dog would have been happy to mother them.
