The future of Foster High books

Ok, here's the situation.

Damnit, hold on a sec ok?

Myparentswentawayonaweek'svacationandtheyleftthekeystothebrandnewPorschewouldtheymindummwellofcoursenot.

Sorry, force of habit.

So the next Fadeaway book and the next Brad and Kyle books are going to be self published. What does this mean? A couple of things. One, they will be out sooner than later since all I need to do is hire an editor to go through and make sure everything is in place and format it for digital readers. Two, a lot more creative control since the only person I am now answering too is me, myself and my cat.

Can't help it, he has veto powers on everything I write, he has a better lawyer than I do.

And three, it's going to cost more out of pocket for me to get a novel up and running. So I decided to float a test balloon to see how it goes.

I am going to start a Kickstarter for Fadeaway Book Two, to raise the money needed to an editor. What this means is I am basically asking you to pre order the book now. A couple things about that process. I will never start a Kickstarter for a book not finished which means there is no chance for you to get screwed out of a book, and you will always know the basic premise of the book before you donate. This means a blurb including what characters are in it and the basic plot without any spoilers.

For now the only thing I am going to be self publishing is the Fadeaway series, which has two books left in it, the one I am starting the Kickstarter on this week and the final one yet unwritten and Brad and Kyle books which there are at least three of including the one I am more than halfway finished with.

I found a great editor that comes with glowing reviews and the time I was given for turn around was six weeks. So, I am going to set the Kickstarter to run for a month, and if it meets it's goals we have six weeks to wait. Ten weeks total for a new book. By that time the Kyle and Brad one should be finished and we can start a Kickstarter for that because I know a lot of you are waiting to see where the boys are at.

Now since you are doing me a favor I am going to do you one.

There will be a tier in the Kickstarter for just the book but there will be another one that includes some extra stuff. I am putting together an anthology of unpublished Foster stories into one volume. There are a lot of stories that have been given for Kickstarter or Patreon users that the general populace have never read. This is your chance to read them all. Also, if you have read these stories there will be a few new ones as well as a DVD commentary for each story telling the process of why it was written and the story behind them.

Now if the Kickstarter fails then I know there just isn't enough interest in these books and I will have to retire them for now until I have enough money to get the work done on my own. Not something I want to do but as my landlord likes rent and the store insists on taking money for food, the only choice I have is writing things I can sell to publishers.

And now you know the whole story.

This could be the start of something beautiful, we all just have to believe in it.
