Book Club Talking Points

Several book clubs will be featuring Abithica in the near future so I thought I’d try to come up with one or two talking points a day. Here is the first and most obvious one: What does it mean to exist? How would Abithica answer that question?

Susan Hi Sue. Well said! Following is the from the first page of Echonyza. I couldn't resist sharing it with you.

"I used to be a thought. That sounds strange, I know, but it’s the best I can come up with. Even today, after distance, I have trouble describing what I was. I had no body, no history, no beginning, and no hope for an end. Everything I was I borrowed from others. Don’t ask me why or how, but I became my hosts. There was no me or I because I was them, until I became someone else, and if I wasn’t me or I, then technically I didn’t exist, right?
Descartes once wrote, “I think, therefore I am.” Sounds good, but I doubted he’d come to that same conclusion if he were me. There’s more to being then thinking. Trust me. I know!"
