Books, books, and more books!!

Confession: I am a bit of a worry-wart. I like to plan and schedule things far in advance. I am almost always early to appointments and meetings, and when things don't go according to plan, I tend to stress out. I get anxiety when there are too many variables and too many "unknowns."

So when the books I had ordered two weeks ago were still "In Production" when they should have been shipped, I started stressing out. Imagine my surprise

I knew they were the books for my party and I was {super} excited to open up the boxes. I tore into them, giggling to myself and dreaming of all the new fans I would amass at my party next week (ha!). My ecstasy soon turned to horror when I realized that something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

The books were misprinted.
The covers were gorgeous, the printing was flawless, but the paper was wrong. You see, I chose to have A Heart Made of Indigo printed on cream paper originally. Better quality, a bit thicker, and it gives the book that lovely antique-y look, not to mention the contrast is a bit easier on the eyes. I had planned to have matching books, and all of my proofs for Scoundrel in Disguise came on cream paper, but these books were printed on white.

In a panic I hopped online to see if there had been some horrible mistake on my part, and I had accidentally switched the paper color in my final proof. But it showed right there on the screen: black & white interior on cream stock. I dug through all the books in the boxes and found that these prints of A Heart Made of Indigo had also been printed on white paper. Obviously there had been a mistake in the printing process, and I was determined to discover what it was.

I called my printer. Thankfully I did not have to wait on hold. I calmly explained what I had discovered, and the customer service representative was very helpful. He dug through my account and found that while my selections were correct, my order had been sent to an outside facility to process (which is why I kept getting the "In Production" message when I tried to check on the status of my order online), and they had made the mistake. Whoops. But Jeffrie, the man helping me, was great. He put a rush order in to replace the misprinted books and promised that they would arrive by September 2nd - the estimated date of delivery for my original order.

The new books came today. They are beautiful. They are perfect. I am so, so, so excited for my party next week, and I hope it's a huge success!! But don't worry if you're not able to attend: I'm having a {massive} online extravaganza next week in connection with my physical party, so you will have a chance to win some great prizes as well.

Be sure to come back on Monday (Labor Day, I know - what was I thinking?!) to get all the details. See you then!
