Working

Well, blimey.

Last week my wife stumbled on an alternative way of working.

There's always a temptation when mentioning this type of thing to call it a 'new technique'. I had to struggle titanically in order not to say that.

Well, my wife came to me with the Pomodoro Technique. I'm not going into what's involved in this, as you're on the internet and it's not the main thrust of this blog. You'll even find out why it's named for the Italian word for tomato!

After a few moments' thought I realised it would be a really good thing for me to utilise. The rhythm created by using the technique, I saw, would be perfect for me.

So, on Friday I launched into it and it was a revelation.

Here, I have to make an admission: for the last few years I haven't been writing as much as I feel I should be. Thinking about it, I'm surprised I've managed to produce anything in the last three years.

The moment I started using this technique my productivity shot through the roof. I haven't written this much in a very long time. And it's all down to one fairly simple change in habit.

It's amazing how changing one thing can make so many other things fall into place.
