Sometimes she liked pilfering things, other times she allowed herself to be stolen. She was a little outside of nature's laws. She could caress the night, for one and all the carcasses turned toward her.
So therefore she could be trusted with the dead. That's exactly why she ought to be trusted with the living.
For she knew unalive or not, people not only deserve but get their comeuppances too.
At least in fiction through the tragedy of fiction and it remains tragic precisely because it's fiction.
