New Novel taking shape!
My new SF novel Perax Frontier is keeping me busy.
I've been kicking this idea around in my head for a number of years, and I wrote-up a speculative first chapter, but it was one of those stories that would get written, eventually...
Up until maybe a week ago, I've been slogging my way through my earliest ever attempt at a novel (now named Probability's Edge) trying to sort out all the things I NOW know are wrong with it.
It was becoming a bit of a chore, so I reckoned I needed a break, and decided to dip into Perax Frontier, you can get a bit of a feel for it on my website - http://alipotter.co.uk - but it's turned out a bit of a rollercoaster. The ideas and scenes just keep coming, and sticking to my rules of never letting a missing scene or missing word get in the way, I've been writing and writing. Stop for a break, and I have to go back as a plot element suddenly falls into place or a new idea drops from the ether;
"Most of these larger fungi seats were resilient enough to hold our weight, but when Martupp sat on a particularly large specimen, it let out a deep resonant organ note, that lasted until the sides folded up to make arms for his temporary chair."
Don't worry, it makes sense in context. This is definitely how writing should feel!
Updates as they happen.
If you want to sample my other work, or get a feel for my writing; SF, Fantasy, Short Stories and Poetry, there's links on my web page.
