The latest!
To get all of our minds off the election, here's an update on the most recent project.
Following the trilogy on a China-Taiwan War in 2029, I've finished a novel on a small-d democratic, small-r republican revolution in a fictional West African Republic in 2025.
Both sides in the revolution try to bring in superpowers, most notably China and the United States. And, who knows, maybe some people/entities from the China-Taiwan novels show up...
I've had a blast learning about west Africa and thinking through the logistics of a modern-day version of the American revolution using near-future technology. That novel, currently titled "Renaissance of the Cause," will likely be coming out sometime in the next couple months when I figure out the best publisher/publishing strategy.
In the mean time, I'm in the outlining stage of a new novel in the same universe. At this stage, I'll just come full circle with this post and tease the story with a depressing quote from the former Speaker of the House:
"Estonia is in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. The Russians aren’t gonna necessarily come across the border militarily. The Russians are gonna do what they did in Ukraine.... I’m not sure I would risk a nuclear war over some place which is the suburbs of St. Petersburg. I think we have to think about what does this stuff mean.”
