Band
Spent my entire day at a marching band competition yesterday. The kids were amazing, they worked so hard and did an amazing job. I love watching my kids do what they love to do.
Some things I've learned. No matter where we go and what we do, we are surrounded by drama. I mean, kids have drama, they're kids, they're supposed to. They're learning and trying to figure out their worlds, so drama follows. My problem is, their parents seem to have just as much drama. Adults walk around in a volunteer organization and boss others around. Some do more than others and tend to become bitter and resentful because of it. Some just do and keep doing because it's what needs done for the kids and they just do what needs done. And some do what they can when they can and try their damnedest to stay out of the drama as much as they possibly can. And some do absolutely nothing but either pretend to do everything or want every privilege for their kid with none of the work. Most of us know who we are, whether we relish the drama or just try to get by, deep down we know who we are and where we fall in the grand scheme. Of course, there are those people who are not longer part of the organization. their children have graduated and moved on to bigger and better things, college, military, etc., but they still try to be part of the drama. They try to extract information by saying things like, "so I hear there's some drama going on these days," and try to get unsuspecting people to give their opinions thus creating more drama. It's exhausting.
So what does this all mean? Nothing really. We're adults, but it seems when we get too many different personalities together, we tend to return to the high school stereotype of drama and cliques.
So that's my opinion of the day. Thanks for reading. Make sure you leave a comment, and following me on facebook and twitter.
