They’re called Weird Things, Dad (or, Sale!)

A while back, my son handed me this picture and told me to write a story about it:

wyrd-things

“They’re called Weird Things, Dad” he explained. “The blue thing is ice element. It has no neck and no tail. It eats meat. Ice is bad. The orange thing is fire element. It has no neck but a long tail for whipping and it breathes fire. It protects stuff from ice.”

The story is called “Seraph”, and it’ll be appearing in Heroic Fantasy Quarterly in May 2017.
